– “Re-plate” charity sales of retired tableware from Shanghai’s top restaurants wraps up
The Re-plate charity sales, an initiative by English food media The Tastopia in collaboration with Scilla, Madre, 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana Shanghai, Fu He Hui and its affiliate restaurants, as well as Taian Table, was rounded off on October 18th, 2025, in Scilla’s terrace garden.
由英文在线美食媒体The Tastopia发起，联合Scilla及Madre、泰安门、福和慧及其福系餐厅、8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana上海共同策划的「沪上名店餐盘循环公益计划，暨旧餐盘线下义卖活动」，于2025年10月18日在Scilla的露天花园落下帷幕。
At its core, Re-plate which holds the spirit of a sustainable table gives retired tableware a new life while contributing to China’s charitable organization Free Lunch For Children (FLC), which provides nutritious meals to children in need across China.
这场以可持续餐桌为主题的活动，不仅让旧餐盘焕发新生，也为「免费午餐」公益项目注入温暖力量。
Despite a gentle autumn drizzle, Scilla’s open-air garden buzzed with energy as participants gathered early to take home a plate that once graced some of the city’s celebrated restaurants. Under a “one per person” rule, all 10 sets of Scilla’s pre-owned tableware sold out instantly, with additional limited-edition pieces quickly snapped up. Contributions from 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana Shanghai, Fu He Hui and its sibling restaurants (Fu 1039, Fu 1088, Fu 1035), and Taian Table were equally in demand.

From Fu He Hui’s artisanal ceramics and 8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana’s silver-rimmed bone china to the delicate celadon tableware from Taian Table – once part of romantic countless proposals, family gatherings, and business dinners – each piece has now found a new home, carrying forward the warmth and memories once shared around the table.
福和慧的手工陶盘、8 ½ Otto e Mezzo Bombana的银边骨瓷、泰安门的青瓷餐具 — 这些曾见证过无数浪漫求婚、家庭聚会、商务宴请的餐盘，如今走进更多人的家中，带着新的使命，继续传递餐桌上的温度和故事。
Thanks to the generous support of the public, by day’s end the total proceeds surpassed 20,000 yuan (US$2,808). After deducting costs, all funds will be donated to FLC, with official documentation to be released upon completion of the donation process.
在公众的积极支持下，我们在公益义卖活动当日的售卖总额超过2万元人民币。除去必要成本外，所有的善款将全部捐给「免费午餐」公益项目。捐款完成后，相关捐赠凭证也将向社会公开展示。
Following the event, messages poured in on our social media. Many participants expressed that the initiative not only revived beautiful objects but also gave tangible meaning to sustainability. One attendee commented, “This is such a wonderful initiative! I hope more events like this happen – showing that beautiful things can be reused rather than discarded.”

Looking ahead, Re-plate will continue to advance the charity initiative, partnering with more restaurants and brands to find new ways to extend the life of tableware, turning reuse into art.
