The Chinese Restaurant Awards is set to unveil its New Wave Discovery Series in Asia with a one-night-only dinner in Hong Kong on April 9th, 2026, bringing its Rising Star Chef awardees from Asia and Canada for a special collaboration at one Michelin-starred Man Ho Chinese Restaurant, housed within the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

With the support of Lee Kum Kee Sauce, China Eastern Airlines, Eatfish.ca, and GoCanada.com, the dinner will represent the Awards’ first live presence in Asia. It comes following the launch of its Elite 15 ASIA list – a move that extends the platform beyond accolades into a culinary exchange.

The evening is designed to feature Chef Jayson Tang of Man Ho Chinese Restaurant, Chef Anderson Lee of Oncle Lee and Oncle Lee Kǎo in Montreal, as well as Chef Steven Che of Vancouver’s upcoming Haisan. Together, they represent a new-generation of chefs pushing contemporary Chinese cuisine across continents.

The chefs will curate a singular menu rooted in their personal heritage – from Hong Kong and Macau to Vancouver and Montreal’s evolving Chinese dining cultures. Premium Hong Kong ingredients will meet Lee Kum Kee’s signature sauces and Canadian seafood, creating a menu that speaks to both origin and outlook. It will offer a close-up view of the talents influencing Chinese cuisine’s global trajectory.

“By bringing Rising Star Chef awardees from Asia and Canada together in Hong Kong, we are creating a platform where heritage meets movement. We want to show how Chinese cuisine continues to evolve globally through dialogue and a new generation of chefs shaping what comes next,” said Rae KunG, CEO of Chinese Restaurant Awards, in the statement.
Founded in Canada in 2008, the Chinese Restaurant Awards remains the world’s longest-running awards body dedicated to Chinese cuisine. Over the past decade, it has documented regional excellence, championed emerging talent, and built an international network featuring the diversity, evolution, preservation and invention of Chinese gastronomy.

Prior to that, in October 2025 the Awards unveiled its inaugural Elite 15 ASIA, selected by a panel of 15 Taste Advisors across the region.

The top five included The Chairman, WING Restaurant, Ru Yuan, Meet the Bund, and Seventh Son Restaurant. Other honorees comprised Xin Rong Ji Hong Kong, Yong Fu Hong Kong, 102 House, Lingnan House, Chef 1996 Restaurant, Jie Xiang Lou, The House of Dynasties, among others.

In parallel, the Awards introduced its Elite 30 Canada, recognizing restaurants and chefs leading a new era of Chinese dining nationwide, from coast to coast, spanning traditions to contemporary interpretations. Among the top-ranked consisted of Dynasty Seafood Restaurant, Chang’ An and MOTT 32 which are in Vancouver, plus Flavourful House in Richmond Hill.
As the organization noted in its year-end message for 2025, 2026 signals a stronger establishment of Chinese cuisine’s global voice with a future worth anticipating.
